Media Ethics and Diversity



Students will learn about the ethical concepts and principles, deontological codes and journalistic good practices, so by the end of the course to have the necessary knowledge and skills for taking editorial decisions including on ethical evaluation. The Course also aims at training the students in reflecting on the subjects related to diversity and it is focused on the media role in the social construction of diversity categories and it explores the ways to improve the reflection of these subjects in media.

Students will be familiarized with the basic concepts and principles of diversity, role of the image, as well as the importance of the ethical principles in reflecting the diversity in media. The students will study the diversity categories, the persisting stereotypes regarding women/men, young people/old people, rich/poor people, heterosexuals/ homosexuals, etc, will learn how to identify and work with the relevant sources, how to write and edit sensitive issues from the point of view of ethics, how to integrate in a diverse working area, will analyze ways of introducing different groups in Moldovan media, etc.
