Course evaluations

Students and their opinions are essential ingredients of higher education. Indeed, what students are learning is perhaps the single most important question to be asked. The Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism and its teaching faculty are committed to maintaining the highest standards of classroom instruction.

At the end of each course (each two-week, all-day course, and each four-week, half-day course) students will be encouraged to submit written evaluations of the course, including the material covered, pace of the course, the physical space in which the conducted was held and the strengths and weaknesses of the instructor.

In an effort to ensure candor, the evaluations will typically be submitted anonymously, although students may, of course, put their names on the forms if they wish.

The questions may vary from course to course, but the following are typical questions.

  • What were the greatest strengths of the course? What were the greatest weaknesses?
  • What were the greatest strengths of the instructor(s) of this course? What were the greatest weaknesses?
  • How well did the instructor(s) know the material? How well were they able to explain the material?
  • How much or how little was language a problem?
  • How clear was the grading policy for the course?
  • Were assignments graded promptly and returned? Were the strengths and weaknesses of graded work explained adequately?
  • Were the instructors for the class helpful in working with you, outside of class time if need be, to understand difficult concepts?
