Final paper, the most important project of SAJ students

With sure steps, the students of the School of Advanced Journalism approached the most difficult, but also interesting, period – final projects. These are true graduation papers, in which every SAJ student translates into practice the knowledge they gathered in the eight months of study.

To produce their final papers – whether for newspaper, online media, radio, or television – students were given three weeks, during which they will choose topics, do their research, film, edit, and write texts. Besides practical skills, they will have to take into account the key principles of the media – objectivity, originality, fairness, accuracy, inspiration, neutrality, and impartiality, – on which the entire learning process at the SAJ is based. Young people will work independently, under the guidance of a tutor chosen from the School’s teachers.

Of the 14 students of 2015-2016, six will make TV reports, four – articles for print media, three will try online media, and one will produce a radio report. Final works will be presented in front of a committee of media experts and practitioners, who will evaluate them according to SAJ evaluation criteria.

To get maximum grades, students must consider some important rules:

1.     Topicality and relevance of the topic chosen

2.     The material is well structured and complete

3.     Objectivity, neutrality, and impartiality

4.     Balance of sources

5.     Compliance with professional ethics

6.     Facts are separated from opinions

7.     Originality and inspiration

8.     Accuracy in production
