Description: 

The course is dedicated to the study of the photojournalism from the idea to publication accentuating the techniques and instruments of taking a good photography for the press. The classes begin with learning the cameras and some of their basic functions. Students also study the editing techniques of the image: the balance of colors and tones, cropping, and principles of editing using layers in Photoshop Work Space and Photoshop Elements.

At the same time, a special attention is paid to captions and rules of writing captions. Besides learning the technical instruments, during many practical exercises, the students have the opportunity to learn also the rules of photographic composition and editing. Photo galleries and slide shows for online journalism are incorporating starting with this academic year, 2009-2010. During the classes, the students will critically analyze and evaluate more photos taken by famous photographers or by them during the practical activities. A special attention is paid to ethics and deontology in photojournalism.
